Guam family trip 2026
Every year, Chuseok is one of the major holidays our family looks forward to in Korea.
Chuseok is a Korean holiday when many families spend time together, visit relatives, and enjoy a few days away from their usual routines.
This year, however, our Chuseok plans started a little differently.
My in-laws told us that they were planning to travel overseas during Chuseok this year.
They even told us to take a trip ourselves and enjoy the holiday.
So, naturally, I started thinking about where we should go.
Maybe Jeju Island?
Maybe somewhere nearby?
We had two young children to consider, so I wanted somewhere that would be comfortable rather than a trip packed with sightseeing.
And then I saw a special deal for PIC Guam.
That was basically how our Guam trip started.
The Guam Deal That Changed Our Plans
We weren’t originally planning a trip to Guam.
I was simply looking at possible destinations when I happened to find a special rate for PIC Guam.
It looked like a good option for a family with young children.
There would be a lot to do inside the resort, especially swimming and water activities, and the Gold Pass would also make meals easier during the trip.
So I mentioned it to my husband.
What about Guam?
And just like that, our Chuseok trip planning suddenly became a Guam trip.
Well… almost.
There was one small detail we hadn’t considered yet.
The special hotel rate did not include flights.
The Flight Price Surprise
Once we started looking at flights for our family of four, things got interesting.
The price I initially saw was somewhere around the low 2-million-KRW range.
Then it went up.
I checked again the next day, and it was higher.
A few hours later, it had changed again.
At that point, I realized that waiting to decide wasn’t necessarily helping.
We were still wondering whether we should actually go, while the flight price seemed to be making the decision for us.
Eventually, when the total was around 2.5 million KRW for the four of us, we decided to book it.
I still don’t know whether the price would have gone back down if we had waited.
But at that moment, I thought:
Maybe we should just decide.
And we did.
Once the flights were booked, the trip suddenly felt very real.
Why We Chose PIC Guam
Traveling with two young children changes the way I plan a trip.
Before having children, I might have tried to visit as many places as possible.
Now, I’m much more interested in having enough time to rest.
For this trip, our main goal is simple:
Spend plenty of time at the resort and enjoy the water.
PIC Guam seemed to fit that plan well.
We booked a Superior Room with a Gold Pass.
Since we are traveling with two children, having activities and meals available at the resort should make the trip easier and more flexible.
We don’t need to leave the resort every day just to find something for the kids to do.
That is a big part of why PIC appealed to us.
Our Chuseok 2026 Guam Itinerary
Our trip is coming up soon, so this is still a work in progress.
We are flying from Incheon International Airport on September 23, 2026.
Our flight is scheduled to leave Korea in the evening and arrive in Guam late at night.
Because of the late arrival, we decided not to plan anything complicated for the first night.
September 24
Arrive in Guam late at night, check in at PIC Guam, and rest.
After traveling with two children, I think getting everyone settled and sleeping will be more important than trying to start sightseeing immediately.
September 25
Our plan is to spend most of the day at PIC.
Swimming, water activities, and enjoying the resort will be the main focus.
In the evening, we are planning to go to a Pirate Dinner Show.
September 26
This day is still undecided.
We may stay at PIC for another relaxed day.
Or, if everyone is feeling good, we may take a short trip around southern Guam.
Places we are considering include Piti Guns, Asan, War in the Pacific National Historical Park, and some shopping.
We haven’t finalized this part yet.
With two young children, I don’t want to turn the last full day into a race against the clock.
We may simply decide based on how everyone feels that morning.
Traveling With Two Young Children
Our children will be about 5 years old and 3 years old during the trip.
That also affects almost every decision we make.
We are not planning a dolphin tour this time.
Instead, we would rather spend more time swimming, playing, and enjoying the resort.
We are also considering going to one show during the trip.
The goal isn’t to see everything Guam has to offer.
It’s to have a trip that our whole family can actually enjoy.
That probably means leaving some empty space in the schedule.
Preparing for the Trip
Now that the trip is only about a week away, the planning has shifted from deciding where to go to figuring out all the small details.
We are preparing our Guam entry documents, checking our travel cards, planning how much cash to bring, and making a packing list for the children.
We are also looking at practical things such as what the kids might need around the pool, what to bring for meals and snacks, and how to make the late-night arrival easier.
There are always more little things to think about when traveling with children.
But I’m trying not to overpack or over-plan this trip.
After all, the whole reason we chose Guam was to have a relatively easy family vacation.
A Trip That Started With a Special Deal
Looking back, it’s funny how quickly this trip came together.
A little over a month ago, we weren’t even sure where we would spend Chuseok.
We considered Jeju Island.
Then I saw a PIC Guam deal.
Then we checked flights.
Then the flight price started changing.
And suddenly, we had booked a family trip to Guam.
Now our departure is only about a week away.
This post is being written before the trip, so our plans may still change.
After we return, I want to come back to this post and see how much of our original plan actually happened.
For now, though, our first goal is simple:
Get everyone packed, get to the airport, and make it to Guam.
Wish us luck. ㅋㅋㅋ
